Established in 1977, the Canadian Security Association (CANASA) is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the security industry. We protect and promote the interests of our members and the safety of all Canadians through education, advocacy, and leadership.

We are a recognized voice of the security industry in Canada and have a growing membership of more than 1000 member organizations in 10 Regions across the country representing all segments of the industry.

For the last eight years has been the CEO of Enman Strategic Business Initiatives LLC, growing security companies as an independent contractor. She has help turn around struggling organizations, improving customers go to market strategies, their internal processes, marketing, sales focus, and overall growth and profitability.

Carol has decades of experience growing a variety of security organizations in the US and overseas.

She entered the industry to take the helm of Security Systems News, in its startup phase, growing it into the industries most respected and lucrative security publication, also creating its related products, events, and websites.

She went on to become the Director of Business Development for Securitas Systems U.S. as they spun off from Securitas Guarding Group in Sweden, into a publicly traded billion-dollar international company. Working directly with the US president, the CTO in Sweden, sitting on the international marketing committee and other international branches around the globe.

Carol worked with Axis Communications as their director of Business Development for healthcare and education, before returning to publishing with with Cygnus Publishing to help reorganize their slumping Security magazine.

For six years she grew DICE Corp., after the owners return from an extended hiatus. She helped to expand the company by multiple millions of dollars annually, founded and grew their hosted solutions offering, and promoted and sold their telecom company, IPtelX.

Has over 30 years of experience in the security industry. 12 years as a general and regional manager at Wells Fargo, later consolidating Wells Fargo’s central stations before joining ADT as general manager of the largest Customer Monitoring Center in the greater New York region.

He was the director of the Rollins National Center in Atlanta, acquired by Ameritech in 1997. He was named Director of one of the largest centers in the U.S. 
He subsequently joined Siemens as the Director of North American Services designing and building a state-of-the-art international contact center in Dallas TX and mirrored center in Washington D.C.

As an international consultant, he has traveled extensively working on security and life safety operations in the U.S., Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
Prior to joining Ackerman Security as Chief Operating Officer, he was the Vice President of Operations at Security Networks for five years before being acquired by Ascent Media, parent of Monitronics, called the deal of the year in 2013 by SDM magazine.

He was the co-chair of The Monitoring Association, previously (CSAA) International Committee and the Insurance Industry Liaison Committee.

Has been in the security industry for 40 years.

Starting his career in the security space working with Wells-Fargo Security. Peter was tasked with evaluating the operations of prospective acquisitions, where he was a key member in completing these projects. Wells Fargo became the second largest security company in the industry, growing from four branches to fifty-eight locations throughout the U.S., including owning a manufacturer of fire products, before the organization was sold.

Peter moved on to be the President, of Security Protective Services, a regional alarm company, for a decade before selling this company.

Given Peter’s expertise in all aspects of management, he moved on to consulting with American companies, expanding their operations in the U.S., and other countries around the globe. For twenty-nine years, Peter has been consulting in the U.S, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia, as an international expert on the processes and procedure to start and manage company expansions throughout the globe.

Peter delivers services to large national and international manufactures, suppliers, alarm companies, security design companies, and monitoring services platforms.

Tom Connaughton

President & CEO of Connaughton Group LLC (CG LLC), a product integrity consultancy firm supporting regulatory, compliance, and market access strategies for the global manufacturer or operator. With nearly 20 years of experience in global product certification and regulatory affairs operating across multiple verticals, namely the Life Safety & Security and Hazardous Locations services.

He brings executive skills, experience, and creative thinking to companies seeking to enhance their value proposition, achieve commercial objectives, and maintain compliance to the applicable codes and standards to reduce risk.

Prior to CG LLC, Tom was the Global Director of Life Safety & Security, Hazardous Locations and HVACR business lines at Intertek Group Plc (ETL certification mark). He was responsible for global business development, approvals and accreditations per laboratory, per vertical in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Italy, France, China, Middle East (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the U.A.E.), Thailand and India. As a member of the global senior leadership team, he enjoyed working with colleagues to implement growth and compliance strategies to expand market share, diversification of the services portfolio and to drive brand recognition.  

Tom believes in active industry participation and served on the NFPA 72 (National Fire Code), Chapter 26 (Supervising Stations), the Monitoring Associations (standards and marketing subcommittees), and was the company representative to NEMA (North American Electrical Manufacture’s Association working to advance the life safety and security industries emerging technologies, business development opportunities, and investments.

Becky Lane

Years of sales experience in the electronic security association industry, as well as the printing and marketing communications industries.

Past Vice President of Membership and Programs for The Monitoring Association, TMA, (formerly the Central Station Monitoring Association). Becky not only grew the membership to over a million dollars in dues revenue, but helped develop the Contract Monitoring Council, expand the Proprietary Monitoring Council, and lead the creation of the International Outreach Forum. She also served as staff liaison for the ASAP program.

Prior to her 10-year tenure with TMA, Becky was the top printing sales representative with sales over six million dollars year to year for S&S Graphics serving Fortune 500 companies.

Skilled in project management, budgeting, operations management, business development and marketing. She holds certification from the ANSI Standards organization.

Becky is a big picture thinker and stays the course on a company’s mission and vision, no matter the size. She introduces new products and services, and is especially skilled on building valued relationships.
